Yesterday I was showing two American guests some of Scotland’s incredible landscapes from the air.
Today, on my journey home, I’m using the opportunity to capture more of them for my growing stock library.
My guest particularly loved seeing the Highlands from the drone. It’s easy to understand why — aerial footage gives you a completely different perspective on the scale and beauty of the Scottish landscape.
But there’s another reason I think documenting these places is important.
Following the recent wildfires in the Cairngorms, there’s a growing concern about how climate change could affect Scotland’s landscapes and whether events like this could become increasingly common.
Capturing these landscapes as they are today creates a visual record, while also allowing me to build a library of stunning and impactful aerial footage for commercial use.
For me, this is one of the advantages of the work I do. A trip doesn't necessarily finish when the client work does. If I'm travelling through somewhere as spectacular as the Cairngorms, I can use the opportunity to create new content, expand my stock library and document Scotland from above.
